Technicolor’s TG789vac V2 is a unique, future-proof, triple-play service gateway with VDSL2 connectivity and residential Voice-over-IP (VoIP) functions.

A dedicated Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and AutoWAN sensing™ make the TG789vac V2 ideal for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) scenarios. To get the most from existing infrastructure, this advanced solution also features powerful DSL acceleration technologies such as G.vector and G.inp.

The TG789vac V2 comes with four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and latest generation Wi-Fi, operating simultaneously in 2.4 GHz over 802.11n and 5 GHz over 802.11ac. This enables higher throughput, while offloading the ever-more-crowded 802.11n 2.4 GHz band. Its 3x3 antenna configuration enables wireless speeds up to 450 Mbps.

Locking down the Technicolor TG589vac v2
Locking down Technicolor routers

With the latest version of firmware (16.2) it is now possible to lock down a router so it can only accept incomming connections from a specific IP address and port.  This is extremely useful if you are using this router to connect a device which only needs to communicate with one place (e.g. a VoIP system).

The reason why you may want to do this is to reduce the chance a third party is able to connect to your devices from other locations.
